Berkshire Local information |
| |
Berkshire is situated in the South of England, is one of England's oldest counties, dating from the time when King Alfred the Great set the County Boundaries. It is ideally located, just 2 ½ hours from both Boston and New York City. Now with many larger towns the county is a busy centre of activity with lots of attractions and facilities available to everyone. It is famous for its Castle at Windsor, Eton College and Royal horse racing at Ascot as well as the many charming villages and historic houses that are waiting to be enjoyed. Lots of tourist attractions here to keep any visitor happy, with river walks and trips, countryside to travel around, and we have travel guides to the main towns and cities in the county as well as some of the villages. The whole family will enjoy a day at Beale Park, Lower Basildon, where a variety of exotic animals and birds are cared for on over 300 acres of ancient water meadow and Two of the finest bridges along the Thames span the river at Maidenhead - the balustraded road bridge and Brunel’s railway bridge, with its long brickwork spans and resounding echoes. |
