Aldershot is a town in the English county of Hampshire, located on heathland about (60 km) southwest of London. The town is administered by Rushmoor Borough Council. There is little doubt that the building of what was to become the home of the British Army did a great deal for the future prosperity of Aldershot. For anyone interested in the history of the British Armed Forces a visit to this town is a must. In all museums the life of each regiment is represented by uniforms, flags, medals and letters. This pleasant town has a fascinating history and there are many beautiful buildings to be seen. It has excellent shopping facilities and there are plenty of pubs and inns that serve good food and a splendid pint of beer. For those whose interest lies in the fortunes of the Armed Services and the birthplace of Aviation, a visit to this town is a richly rewarding experience.
