Warminster Local information |
| |
Warminster is a town in western Wiltshire, England, by-passed by the A36, and near Frome and Westbury. This is a former wool and corn town with a interesting history stretching back to Saxon times. It sits comfortably beneath the chalk downland of the Salisbury Plain at the head of the beautiful Wyle Valley. Astounding views of the town can be enjoyed from Cop Heap, and Cley Hill Iron-Age Hillfort which belongs to the National Trust can be found about three miles west of Warminster. Warminster was once a famous stopping place for coaches as can be seen by the beautiful buildings of the Bath Arms. |
